The President of the Portuguese Physiotherapists' Association, António Lopes, and the 1st Vice-President of the Board, Nuno Cordeiro, went to Coimbra on 18th January for a meeting at the Higher School of Health Technology of the Polytechnic of Coimbra (ESTeSC), at the request of the President of this Higher Education Institution, Graciano Paulo.
The meeting, where all the teachers of the Scientific-Technical Unit of Physiotherapy of ESTeSC were present, had as objectives the presentation of the challenges inherent to the future of the profession of Physiotherapist, taking into account the Statutes of the Order and the legal requirements applicable to Higher Education Institutions (IES).
The importance of the complementary nature of the HEIs and the Order in the processes of specialization of the physiotherapist, continuous training and the offer of short training courses was demonstrated. The meeting also discussed the Code of Ethics and the Disciplinary Regulation and explained the procedures and the respective public consultation period that will take place soon.
