Investiture - Planning and Studies Office (GEP)

Tomada de Posse - Gabinete de Estudos e Planeamento (GEP)

The Office of Studies and Planning (GEP) of the Order took office on 29 March, created according to the Activities Plan approved by the General Council.
GEP's mission and objectives are to develop a support structure to carry out studies, namely, cost-effectiveness studies and evaluation of health results and health policies directly related to physiotherapy. The pursuit of these objectives will be fundamental in contributing to the definition, improvement and structuring of strategies, policies, priorities and objectives of the Order of Physiotherapists.

We thank the nominated Physiotherapists for their availability and commitment:
Professor Doutor Eduardo Brazete Cruz (Coordinator) - Céd. nº 2191;
Professor Cristina Jácome - Cédula nº 1111;
Professor Fernando Ribeiro - Céd. nº 2560;
Professor Doctor Diogo Pires - Céd. nº 2420.

Physiotherapy will always be there!

A Fisioterapia dirá sempre presente!

In order to fully clarify and publicize the position of the Order of Physiotherapists in the face of the escalating conflict that is taking place in Ukraine, and to better provide the necessary help, the Board created a working team, within the so-called Technical Evaluation Committee, in order to assess, on a case by case basis, the requests of physiotherapists from Ukraine under the support that Portugal gives to refugees from that country. The Order also expressed its solidarity to the President of the Ukrainian Association of Physiotherapists, Stepan Kobelyev, who promptly thanked us.

For this reason, we will disseminate the necessary information to the Ukrainian community, identifying the contacts created specifically for this purpose, using the Embassy of Ukraine, associations and other humanitarian organizations, directly, via email, messages on social networks and aid aggregator sites, among others.

In this way, we ensure not only the link of the request for support with the Ukrainian issue, but also the connection with the registered physiotherapists and also with the colleagues who receive the requests actually aimed at supporting Ukrainian citizens and their families.

Finally, many thanks to all the translator physiotherapists who agreed to join this effort to support the Ukrainian community!

Physiotherapy will always be present when it is necessary to defend the rights of all citizens!

Meeting with ATARP

Reunião com a ATARP

The Portuguese Physiotherapists Order meets with the Portuguese Association of Technicians of Radiology, Radiotherapy and Nuclear Medicine (ATARP).

The President of the Portuguese Physiotherapists Order, António Lopes, together with the vice-president Nuno Cordeiro and the board member Afonso Neutel met with the President of ATARP, Altino Cunha, and the respective vice-president, Rute Santos. The topics discussed focused on the future of the professions they represent.

For the OF, the "professional interconnection between physiotherapy and the professions represented by ATARP was the starting point for an analysis of potential partnerships and collaborations between the two entities". The "role of the physiotherapist and his relation with the different areas in the scope of imaging and ultrasonography" were other of the several themes discussed in this meeting.

They also discussed "possibilities of collaboration" that allow the Order of Physiotherapists and ATARP to maintain a close collaboration with regard to the protection of the citizen user of health services.

Meeting with the Ordre des masseurs-kinésithérapeutes

Reunião com a Ordre des masseurs-kinésithérapeutes

The Order of Physiotherapists met with the Ordre des masseurs-kinésithérapeutes (French OF) which, within the framework of the rotating presidency of the European Community, wanted to sound out similar entities from other Member States on the creation of a Common Training Framework for physiotherapists.

With this framework, there is now an essential minimum harmonisation, which will make the recognition of qualifications much easier when the professional wishes to go and practise the profession in another Member State, avoiding, for example, having to take compensatory measures in order to be authorised to practise the profession in that country.

Currently the mobility process for physiotherapists, even under the European Professional Card, is decided on a case by case basis according to the training that the candidate for mobility has, since the training differs from country to country, and even within the same country.

The Ordem dos Fisioterapeutas, as the competent authority for the recognition of European diplomas for professional practice in Portugal, expressed its availability to collaborate in this initiative.

Meeting with the Consejo General de Colegios de Fisioterapeutas de España

Reunião com o Consejo General de Colegios de Fisioterapeutas de España

The Board of the Order of Physiotherapists met on 27th January with the President of the Consejo General de Colegios de Fisioterapeutas de España, D. Gustavo Paseiro Ares.

This meeting promoted the sharing of mutual concerns between Portugal and Spain, regarding free movement and the autonomy and regulation of the profession, among other issues.

The OF believes that this discussion will give more value to the profession and that, in the near future, it will allow a fruitful growth of physiotherapists.

Meeting with the Union of Physiotherapists

Reunião com o Sindicato dos Fisioterapeutas

The OF's Management met today with the Management of the Physiotherapists Union, in the person of the physiotherapist João Paulo Valente.

This long-awaited meeting promoted the sharing of concerns and the search for necessary answers for the profession. We understand, therefore, that this meeting has strengthened fundamental ties between our entities that, although having a distinct nature, seek to dignify the profession and to value physiotherapists.
