Today, 17 September, is World Patient Safety Day.
The Portuguese Order of Physiotherapists associates itself to this initiative of the World Health Organization (WHO) and considering that Patient Safety is a priority for Physiotherapists, recommends the consultation of the National Plan for Patient Safety 2021 -2026 (PNSD 2021 -2026)adopted pursuant to Order No. 9390/2021 of 24 September.
The PNSD 2021-2026 is based on five main pillars, with their respective strategic objectives, plus the respective actions and targets.
- Pillar 1: Safety culture;
- Pillar 2: Leadership and governance;
- Pillar 3: Communication;
- Pillar 4: Prevention and management of patient safety incidents;
- Pillar 5: Safe practices in safe environments.

Online Patient Safety Conference: NOTIFICA platform
As part of the theme chosen to mark World Patient Safety Day 2022 - the Safety in the use of Medication -, and the dissemination of the National Plan for Patient Safety 2021-2026 and skills development regarding the five pillars, the Order will promote a conference online addressed to physiotherapists, dedicated to the thematic of incident notification (platform NOTIFY). The date, programme and registration information will be announced soon.
